The problem
Philo is an industry-agnostic VC, so one brand had to do two very different jobs: Earn the trust of fund investors, and recruit tech founders into three incubation programs they’d never heard of. The brand also had to stretch across audiences that want opposite things. Real estate is conservative: investors there look for stability, polish, and a track record. The tech side needed to feel like an intrepid organization ready to push boundaries. The visual system had to feel trustworthy to the first without boring the second.
02
Process

I met with each stakeholder to understand what their Philo entity needed from the web, then sketched brand structures until one served every audience. It took some finessing, but the answer was simple: four stray domains became three sites, each with one job.
The front door parent site. A bare-bones, deliberately understated introduction to who Philo is and what we do. Casual googlers were gauging trust, vibe, and longevity, so restraint did more than an all-encompassing explanation.
The venture site. Built to recruit tech founders and technical cofounders. It explains our three incubation programs clearly enough that a founder can see where they fit and apply.
The real estate site. A home for both real estate and larger long-term development projects, so investors focused on real estate had a landing pad of their own.

Outcome
Four stray domains became three sites, each with one job, all on one brand system that I designed and built in code. Founders found the programs. Applications to Philo’s incubation programs went up 10x after launch. Search started working right away. About 14% of philo.vc visits came from Google within the first month, on a brand-new domain. Visitors checked credibility first. After the homepage, the most-viewed pages were Team and Companies, which confirmed that trust drives the first visit. Small team, big footprint. I shipped three sites myself with Claude Code and Cursor, in 4 months.
